PRESIDENT

CMA Suresh Chandra Mohanty has been unanimously elected as the President of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI ) for the period 2013-14 on 22nd July, 2013. He is the 56th President of the Institute. CMA Mohanty is a Graduate in Economics, Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) and Institute of Valuers (FIV) of India and holding a degree in Law. He is a Registered Valuer under the Wealth Tax Act, 1957 and Licensed Surveyor & Loss Assessor.

CMA Mohanty was the Vice-President of the Institute for the term 2012-13.

CMA Mohanty has a vast experience in the matters relating to standards setting. He has played a pivotal role in keeping liaison with key regulators and maintaining dialogue with international standards setters. He has visited many countries and represented the Institute in various national and international events & conferences.

CMA Mohanty represents the Institute in the Accounting & Auditing Committee and Task Force to review the Constitution of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).

CMA Mohanty has made remarkable contributions to the Cost and Management Accounting (CMA) profession as Chairman of Cost Audit & Assurance Standards Board (CAASB). Under his Chairmanship the Board has finalized a roadmap for developing Cost Auditing and Assurance Standards in line with the recent professional changes and Government directives. The Board has formulated the Preface to the Standards on Quality Control, Auditing, Assurance, Review & related services rendered by the Cost Accountants and also released four Cost Audit and Assurance Standards for guidance to the Members.

CMA Mohanty has also played a key role as a member of the Cost Accounting Standards Board of the Institute, in developing Cost Accounting Standards.

Prior to joining practice as a Cost Accountant in 2001, CMA Mohanty had a rich experience of holding key portfolios in corporate sector for more than 23 years. He is having adequate exposure & expertise with proven track record in the fields of Cost & Management Accounting / Finance / Accounts / Audit/ Taxation / Industrial Relations / Corporate & Labour Laws / and BIFR. His magnum exposure and expertise in the field of Cost and Management Accounting has immensely benefited the Institute at its Headquarters, Regional Councils and Chapters by value addition in various fields including Professional Development, Academics and Administration. He is a Research Scholar at Utkal University and Member, Indian Accounting Association, Orissa State Productivity Council, Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar & Orissa State Vigilance Council.

CMA Mohanty is the Senior Partner of S.C. Mohanty & Associates, Cost Accountants and also a Director, SCM Consultants Pvt Ltd. and ICWAI Management Accounting Research Foundation.

With his dynamic leadership, the profession will reach new heights and discharge its specialized role for the cause of the society.
