The Penamaluru Police booked a case against Superwhizz CA Coaching Institute management in connection with the suspicious death of a student, Y.V. Harshavardhan Reddy (20).
He reportedly died by jumping from the college building on Friday.
The police registered case against Superwhizz (Kanuru branch) supervisor Murali, coordinators Vijay, Pramod and Karthik, under Section. 306 of IPC (abetment to suicide) on Saturday.
Harshavardhan Reddy, a native of Ongole town, was taking coaching in the institute at Kanuru.
However, the boy’s father, Y. Ramana Reddy, in his complaint alleged that the supervisor and the coordinators had an argument with his son for not attending classes on May 30 and pushed him from the parapet wall of the building, causing his death.
Penamaluru Circle Inspector K. Dharmendra said the police recorded the statements of the eyewitnesses (other students), who said that the staff chided the victim for skipping classes.
Harshanvardhan, who took it as an insult, resorted to the extreme step. But, no arrests have been made in the case so far, the CI said.
Meanwhile, members of Students Federation of India (SFI), CPI (M) and Congress activists staged a dharna in front of the Government General Hospital (GGH) demanding action against Superwhizz management.
They insisted the police book the culprits immediately. The traffic was stalled for some time when the protestors staged a sit-in on the National Highway No.5.
Police dispersed the people and took a few protestors into custody.
Later, the body was handed over to family members after post-mortem.
